Hey, It's Okay...How To Be Alone
And another hey, it's okay. It's okay to be alone. Alone can be beautiful. :)
Hey, It's Okay!
It's Wednesday night. And I feel all-right. And I'm going round, just dancing...
Boy oh boy, is it a beautiful day. On days like today, when things just go wrong, or just fall short of what I want them to be, all I say to myself is, "hey, it's okay". So, tonight, in honor of this beautiful day, I want to cut my readers a little slack.
Hey, it's okay if you prefer wearing no shoes to any shoes, especially high heeled ones. Your feet will thank you.
Hey, it's okay if you would rather curl up with a good book and a cup of tea at night instead of going out on the town. You save money, you up your "culture quotient", and you drink something that won't give you a headache in the morning.
Hey, it's okay if you have a smartphone, and all you do on it is collect gaming applications. Extra points if you write your calendar out by hand instead of updating it in your phone. When the phone crashes, all you'll be out of is a time-wasting activity...
Hey, it's okay if you sleep with the light on because of a particular vivid vision of a man wielding a machete around your house.
Hey, it's okay if you like animal company better than people company. Animals aren't as sassy.
Hey, it's okay if you don't really follow any trends - fashion, sports, careers - any of it. As a very wise man once said, " you gotta be you".
That's all for today. So remember: be gentle with yourself. You don't know all of the answers, and that's okay. You gotta just keep playing the game. :)

Awesomely Awkward Thursday!
And again, here we are. :) so far, my blogging is doing okay: this is the second entry in a week. Here's to more frequent blogging!
So, this week has been lovely. Really, it's been my last free week, so I've truly basked in the thrill of doing absolutely nothing. Therefore, most of my awesomely awkward moments have been shared alone. Which is kind of awkward. Not awesome, just awkward.
But anyway. Other gems of this past week include, but are not limited to...
* This sexual myth, found in a medical pamphlet that I stumbled upon this week: "In order to be sexually active, you have to move. Therefore, if you don't move during sex, you can't get pregnant". Really, youth of America? Who of you honestly would believe this?
* Having lunch with my mom and grandma, and hearing their circular conversations. "Did you hear that so and so died?" "I told you about that young man that ran into my garage door?" "When I was 16 years old..." Let's face it: their stories are circular. I hear the same ones over and over and over again. I could become extremely exasperated about it, but let's face it: I tell stories the same way: the same ones, over and over again, when it seems to fit in the conversation. I am headed down that same circular asinine path. But, it's family: cool to see my roots at play, at least :)
* My excitement at my trip to the public library. I haven't been to a public library in 6 years, and quite honestly, my excitement was obnoxious. I can't help myself: I love the smell of library books, I love the unique and quirky individuals that the library sometimes attracts, and I love the fact that it's all free.
* Me, feigning the ability to walk around in 5 inch high red platform heels. woof. I'm more suited to my TOMS collection then to soaring (and falling) from the high heights of those heels (cue that circular story of the time when I fell off a curb in flip flops...you remember that story?)

Awesomely Awkward Thursday
Okay. So, it's been like a year since I last blogged. Like woah. I could spend a lot of time making excuses up about why I haven't blogged in the past year, but no one, not even me, has time for that many excuses. So, I suppose we'll say that it happened, I'm posting now, and I"m asking for forgiveness.
Blogging takes commitment. Which is something I'm going to have to get good at if I'm going to be a good, interesting, and dedicated blogger. So, here's to a new goal: blogging tenacity.
Now, onto something that will hopefully help me be more dedicated to Shenanigans of Consequence: AWESOMELY AWKWARD THURSDAY. Let me explain. I've seen others blog Thursdays as "Awesome and Awkward Thursday", but I feel bad about doing the same thing for a couple reasons: first, I didn't create it. Second, in my life, I have a difficult time separating the awkward from the awesome, instead having more awkward things happen which I then eventually laugh at, which turns them into awesome things. So, the new name. And my first entry for AWESOMELY AWKWARD THURSDAY.
*Posting this blog at 12:28am on Thursday morning. There really hasn't been enough time for awesomely awkward things to happen just today, so this feature will span the week. :)
* Shopping in the juniors' department as a 23 year old. And seeing copious amounts of artfully tattered, fringed, and mustard colored garments. And thinking that these ugly pieces are the ones that people will be wearing come fall. WOOF.
*Playing catch phrase and, in the heat of the game, mistaking AAA for AA. My first clue for this word: "oh no, I drink too much, I need to go to this place..."
* Singing and dancing to myself on the car ride to anywhere. Bonus points if the song is completely unexpected for me, like anything by Wiz Khalifa or Jefferson Airplane (both of whom I have sung to this week...)
* This t-shirt, on sale at Delia's this week.

I go Gaga for this shirt! (actually, this joke can fit into the awesomely awkward category, too...)
